We took a three day river trip on the North Fork River in south-central Missouri. We put in at the Hebron boat launch. The North Fork is a beautiful, clear river. It is ground water fed, resulting in crystal clear and pleasantly cold river flows in Summer. River flow is surprisingly fast. We covered distances a lot faster than we anticipated. We pulled over into a stream feeder to see a small spring feeding the river. Late afternoon, we stopped south of North Fork Campground on a sandbar to set up camp.
The next day, we continued south. Flow remained strong. It was a beautiful, bright sunny day. Even though it was warm, we could always take a dip into the cool North Fork River to cool off. Due to the strong flow of the river, we needed to take out to avoid finishing our trip too early. We stopped on a sandbar near Sunburst Ranch in mid afternoon. As this was a Saturday, we encountered a lot of college booze cruise trips down the river as we sat on the sandbar. There was a short rain storm in the late afternoon, so it was nice that we had our tent setup to remain dry. The evening was clear and we enjoyed a nice cool evening with camp made pizzas.
We began our last day with cinnamon rolls and then finished the remaining length of river. The flows were a lot lower, but we arrived in Dawt Mill around Noon. The outfitter arrived pretty quickly and our trip was completed.
