Given my enjoyment of the outdoors and climbing, I wanted to share that enthusiasm with my children. I decided to take my son to Pinnacle Mountain in Arkansas. We stayed the previous night at Maumelle Park along the Arkansas River. The next morning, we drove to the parking area for the West Summit Trail to Pinnacle Mountain. It's an impressive climb. There is a 900' ascent to the 1010' summit. Along the way, we went through the Class IV scramble. Finally, we received the summit. It's a spectacular plateau that dominates everything to the west and overlooks the Arkansas River basin to the east. A really enjoyable day.
