With the numerous peaks and topology, Rocky Mountain National Park is an outstanding destination. I had the opportunity to go there with my son, and attempt a climb of Longs Peak. Although pleasant in June, there is still snow and ice on the final approaches to Longs Peak.

We started at the Longs Peak trailhead, and camped at Goblins Forest the first night. Although gaining some elevation, we were still in the treeline, and subject to flies and mosquitoes. The next day we attempted to reach our next camp in the Boulderfield, but the altitude difference from the Midwest took its toll, and we had to retreat to lower elevations.
